In the middle of my nightly trek to the bathroom, I turned on the closet light so I could find my way back. It struck me that I need that same plan in my everyday life. The darkness threatens to snuff out our walk with Jesus, the Light of the world. He said, “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Our church began 40 Days in the Word this week. The verse I read today says God is up to something. He’s at work in us – not only to have the desire to do what pleases Him, but to also be empowered to do what pleases Him…to do the things that make Him smile.
Oh to bring a smile to the face of God! To think that it could actually be within the realm of possibility that a mere mortal could have that kind of influence on The Almighty. Yet isn’t that what Zephaniah 3:17 states? God takes great joy in His people!
Lord, I want to bring a smile to Your face today. Thank You that You are still at work, molding me into a likeness of Yourself. I want to do the things that please You. I want to be busy with the things that are on Your mind. Thank You for equipping me with desire and with power in order to accomplish that.
Don’t you love God’s Word? Shine on Jesus, Shine on!
What verse has illuminated your path today?
