Christmas Celebrations

My friends at HighCallingBlogs.com are sponsoring a Christmas challenge:  Blog about your most memorable Christmas!  Ooooh, I’m so there!  I love Christmas, with the special events that accompany it.  In fact, there are so many special memories, that I may have to carry that thought throughout the month!  Today is an especially good day to write about Christmas memories, as the snow is falling in a heavy white blanket.

Many years ago, I surprised my husband with a present for each of the 12 days before Christmas.  Some were sweets to tickle the chocolate fancy, and some were practical, like nail clippers or socks.  But a few were extravagant.  It was so much fun watching the anticipation build each day, as he never knew what to expect.  Finding those wrapped presents became an adventure that culminated in the Day of all days.

Celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas beforehand has become a semi-tradition as Hubby has also surprised me.  We don’t do this every year…it would lose the element of surprise!  But a few years ago, we treated our kids, and relished their delighted responses!

Opinions differ as to the origin, but it is still fun to celebrate The 12 Days of Christmas!

What a fun way to celebrate! I'll have to try this one year.
Of course, that means having my shopping done way in advance!

We do the three gifts of the magi on the days leading up to Christmas. It's a bit like this, but cheaper. : )
