Moms & Daughters Event FAQs

Kathy Gowler from Closer:  Moms and Daughters answers some frequently asked questions:

 • What ages are appropriate for the conference? The focus is on ages 10-19. The programming is geared toward girls heading into Middle School through High School. There is no sexual content that will be inappropriate for younger girls. This day is strictly about building the mother/daughter relationship as the girls head into the turbulent teen years.  (I have been telling everyone to bring elementary age, as well as their adult daughters.  This is all about relationships!)

 • Can a mom bring more than one daughter? Yes!

 • Can a Grandmother/step mom bring a girl instead of the birth mom? Absolutely! Even a Sunday School teacher who is investing in a girl's life as the female role model would be appropriate.

 • What's in the box lunch?  a shaved meat and cheese sandwich, bottled water, chips, fruit, carrot/celery, and cookies.  It is being catered by 3C’s Catering, Diethrick Park and Midway State Park Concessionaire

 • Can people leave for lunch and come back? Yes, BUT the lunch break is only 45 minutes long, and is intended for moms and daughters to continue processing the morning's programming (talk!) Leaving the event and coming back requires finding a place to eat, re-park etc. and breaks the spirit of the day.

 • Will this event be "offensive" to non-Christians? It is an evangelical event in that we openly challenge moms and daughters to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in order for the other relationships in their lives to be healthy. Scripture is referred to. We pray for moms and daughters who may be hurting and need "Jesus with skin on".

Please order tickets this week.  February 29 is our benchmark date to know if we can have the Closer: Moms and Daughters event.  As a business, they can’t operate on the hope that we’ll sell the tickets at the last minute.  We need to create urgency with ticket sales now, to give them an indication that we can pull this off!

Closer:  Moms and Daughters

Saturday March 29, 2008

9 am to 4 pm

Busti Church of God

Family Life Center

996 Forest Ave Ext.

Jamestown, NY 14701

This event features drama, praise and worship, a mini-concert, special speakers, breakout sessions, and interactive games between moms and their daughters (ages 11-19), but the focus of the entire day will be spiritual and relational revival.
We believe in good old-fashioned revival. When moms and daughters begin to live a totally surrendered life of radical obedience to the Lordship of Jesus Christ,
everything changes! Their attitude toward one another changes, which affects their relationship and family dynamics. God wants to make that kind of difference in our homes.  And it’s our prayer, that He would ignite revival in our nation BEGINNING with moms and daughters!
The event will conclude with an incredibly special
ceremony between moms and daughters, as they exchange a piece of jewelry (included in the event fee). They’ll make a covenant to God and then between each other — a holy, sacred promise that will change their relationship forever.
