What Writers’ Retreat would you attend if you had $1,000.00 to spend?

Writers’ Conferences happen all over the country, through every season.  But the time to start planning your trip begins now.  Hypothetically speaking, imagine your great aunt leaves you $1,000.00 with the stipulation that it be used for a Writers’ Retreat.  You’ve got one week to decide, and the trip has to happen in this fiscal year.  What would you choose?  And why?  Be sure to leave links to your choice so the rest of us can decide if we agree!

Have fun choosing!

Sally

I hope to see some replies because I might actually go to a conference this year. I'm considering Philadelphia CWC or Blue Ridge Mtns CWC. Maybe if my aunt leaves me $1,000 I can do both (using my own funds for the 2nd one). :)

Hey Lisa!
I've heard excellent reports about both, and someday hope to meet Marlene Bagnull at Philly.
I'm looking into the American Christian Writers Conference in Fort Wayne, April 16-17.

The only writers conference I've been to was an ACWC here in Columbus OH about 4years ago. It was great - especially for a first conference. The small attendance and faculty made it a wonderful experience. One of the faculty - Brenda Nixon - has continued to be a huge encouragement to me.
I too would like to meet Marlene B - I'm going through her Bible study for Christian Writers for the second time. (1st time was about 4 yrs ago)

Lisa,
Thanks for the affirmation about ACWC. I've written my check and am getting excited about Ft Wayne. Dennis Hensley will be there, and, as I look at my bookshelf, I realize I have several things written by him. It will be good to have the opportunity to pick his brain in person!
I met Brenda Nixon online thru Christian Leaders and Speakers. www.classervices.com

She seems like a compassionate person!
Marlene's study, Write His Answer, is on my "to buy list." Another study, For the Write Reason, has been instrumental in directing my path to publishing. I've been thru it several times, but still use it as a resource book.
I posted more info about the CLASS Christian Writers Conference in NM at http://sallyferguson.net/archive/Writers%20Conference%20Update.htm
Hop on over and take a look!
Blessings to you, sweet sister in Christ!
